so..? any body got any ideas wud be much appreaciated

1. Can you see the printer?
2. Can you print a test page?

THese are basic but your info is not enough to go on.

Okay, so it appears you are pinging a print server or a jetdirect card. Please let us know which it is, but if you cannot ping it, have you tried the following?

1. Unplugging the print server/printer, and plugging back in? (both power and patch cable)
2. Different patch cable to the print server/printer?
3. Different cable drop altogether, or a different port on the hub?
4. If you still can't get it, you might have an issue with the print server/jetdirect. You might perform a factory reset on the print server, or if its jetdirect, see if you can find the printer using one of jetadmin's search parameters (either by name or mac address).
5. Still can't get it, put one machine and the server on a new cheapy 5 port hub with new patch cables, and try pinging now. If you cannot get any response from your pings, and TCP/IP is configured and enabled on the device, then you are probably replacing your print server/jet direct card.
