Hello,
Running Win2K Server as a domain controller. Added a Win2K Advanced Server, ran dcpromo and all was ok. Getting some replication errors on the secondary DC, so I removed AD from that secondary DC (did NOT check box that it's the last DC in the domain). After that, I cannot open AD Users/Computers, Domain Group Policy MMC, etc. Error message is :

Naming information cannot be located because:
The logon attempt failed
Contact your system administrator to verify that your domain is properly configured and online.

One side note, we did change the admin password recently, then changed it back. Not sure how that would affect AD, but something obviously is.

Thanks!!

An update...I re-ran dcpromo on the secondary domain controller, now I can access the AD Users and Computers from there, just not from the main DC.

One more update...when I look at the properties of the AD domain, it shows "server1" as the Operations Master and will allow me to change it to "server2" if I wanted.

When I look at the properties of the AD domain on the Primary DC (server1), I get an error.

Well, issue is resolved. Re-installing AD on the secondary domain controller seemed to restore the operations master modes. It took about 15 minutes to work after installing AD on the secondary server and rebooting, but it's all good now.
