Cannot logon to Arcserve 11 with CAroot?

We use Arcserve 11 on a 2003 server domain we recently changed the domain admin password and apparently one of the services was running as this instead of the CAroot user, we can no longer logon to Arcserve we receive "Server failed to authenticate the user caroot (EC=.1) it then asks for a password if I enter the caroot user password it still fails, this password is correct as I can logon to a station with it.
We have recently moved to this from Veritas (so I’m not used to ARCserve) and I think I am using the Arcserve accounts incorrectly the manual suggests the "ARCserve backup system account" is this different to the CAroot account and if so how do I reset it's password.

Hi,
If the Authsetup does not resolve the problem, you might wanna try this step as well.

Explore in the the BAB install folder, look for CSTOP.bat and run this file.THis would stop all the ARCserve related services.

Now, Look for a folder by the <server Name> under Data\discovery, renmae this folder as <servername.old>.

Now restart the ARcserve services using Cstart.bat.

This should resolve the ec=-1 issue.

I have a similar issue, I've tried resetting the caroot password but it errors after a couple of minutes with "Could not connect to either PDS/SDS Domain services"

I think the problem is I renamed the server after installing ARCserve as when I do the castop, rename sub-folder under discovery and castart it still recreates the folder with the old server name not the new one. Is there a step by step process on what to do if you rename your server? Or is it just easier to reinstall?
 
I changed the name on my machine and nothing worked. AuthSetup would create the account, but it would never authenticate. I found it easier to just reinstall ARCserve.
