my friend has developed an appln in foxpro 2.6a and that appln on running shows "cannot locate the desired version of foxpro"...i tried every option listed with replacing the 'eso' and 'esl' files..but of no use..
when i tried with eso and esl present..the applcn starts and then shutsdown saying "FoxPro 2.6a EXE Support Library (X) - Normal shutdown"

please help?

My first guess is that you have a problem with where the ESO & ESL files "live" - a path problem.

What is the command line in the desktop shortcut?
Does it launch the EXE directly or does it use FOXPRO.EXE?
Or does it launch a BAT file which sets things up?

We also need to ask -- "what has changed?"

Did the application run at one time and now is not?
If so, again, what changed?

Are you attempting to run this application in a totally new and different environment?

Have you changed operating systems?

Perhaps with more answers we can help you better.

Good Luck,

1. The ESO & ESL files ar in the same path as the executable applcn file.(what path they should be in ideally?)...could it be possible that there might be a mismatch of files...
2. The executable file has no shortcut..i ran it from windows and dos both...no success...nor does it have a batch file
3. The applcn did not run previously nor did i change the environment.

Also i run the EXE directly...one thing...how do i know if it uses foxpro.exe?
The problem is the applcn starts..i.e. it waits for some time showing the "Product ID.etc" and then it shuts down.

i suspect a memory problem....i tried reducing memory options in the EXE file and it showed "phar lap err:something..cant load ESL file...
