Have successfully installed my HP930C previously on a Dell 700LX running windows ME. I downloaded an updated driver from the HP support web site and it crashed before installing( I had already deleted original driver which was usb as part of HP's instructions!). HP are aware of this problem and have a patch for it which deletes all the new driver stuff . But following this, the old driver will not install, I get the "Add Hardware Wizard" hanging ( Task Man = Not Responding ) AAAAAARRRGGGGHHHH!
Please Help X-)

Open Windows Explorer to c:\windows\temp and delete all files and folders under this diectory.

Then stop all unneccesssary processes. Right-click on the icons in the tray and choose "exit" or "close". Then tap the Alt_Ctl_Del keys ending all processes except systray and Explorer.

I would remove Task Man by going to Start>Run, and type msconfig, click the start up tab and uncheck it.

Remove it permanently by backup the registry and/or export the following keys:

go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to either:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices-
and delete the entry in the right pane.
