Cannot install AD connector for Exchange 5.5

I am trying to install the AD connector for Exchange 5.5 on a new Exchange 5.5 server running on Windows 2000 Server. When I double-click the "setup" file, I get a dialogue box saying:

Access is denied

Facility: Win32
ID no: c0070005
Microsoft Active Directory Connector Setup

There is nothing obvious that I can see that is wrong. The account I am logged on as is the Exchange service account. The server is a member server in our Active Directory.

COuld anyone let me know if there is a solution to this, please?

Have you tried the ADC that comes with Exchange 2K?

Try running this setup logged in as the "Administrator". I believe you need to install the ADC on a Domain Controller that is part of Active Directory. I could be wrong. I would first try and install it logged in as Adminstrator. I have never installed this on a Member Server so i'm not sure if this can be done or not.

Have tried the copy that comes with Windows 2000, the copy that comes with Exchange 2000 and the copy that is downloadable from the Microsoft website, all with the same effect.
