Hi all, i'm having a problem inserting video files into Powerpoint 2000, when i try i get the error message "PowerPoint couldn't insert movie from the selected file. Either the file is non-standard, or QuickTime is not installed properly". I've tried this on more that one PC and have even upgraded one to Quicktime 6.5.2.

Oddly this works on an XP box but not on the 2k boxes.

I've followed the link below but haven't found a solution the file will play in Media Player and Quicktime.

Does anyone have any idea how i can get this to work?

Hi there,

I've had video-import problems with PowerPoint before, and have found one solution that has so far always worked - convert the video to another format.

You mentioned that you have QT, but didn't specifically say whether your movie in in QT format. If it is, I'd strongly suggest converting it to something else - AVI or MPEG - that PowerPoint likes better. See http://www.videohelp.com/mov2avi.htm for a (freeware) tool to do this. If your movie is not QT... same thing - try converting it to AVI or MPEG!

Then try inserting the movie into PowerPoint.

Good luck!

It's actually a .WMV but complains that quicktime is the problem [surprise]

I'll take a look a that link.
