I need some assistance. I am unable to access my pix from the outside. My broadband USB modem has one static public ip and my Pix has a private IP as the outside IP. I have been told that I need to setup a mapping from my modem static public ip to the pix private IP. My router does has a virtual server rule option. The Virtual Server option allows to define a single public port on the router for redirection to an internal LAN IP Address and Private LAN port if required. however, I am not sure what ports to use for both. Does any one have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue. Below is my network design.

What kind of modem do you have? Sometimes there is an option for a bridged mode which would allow you to configure the PIX to use the static IP.

I have a Verizon broadband USB720
Thanks

In the router port forwarding options I have a field for the private IP which I put the outside IP of the pix and then there is a public port and private port.

So public port would be 22 and private would be 443?

Also I connected my broadband modem to my laptop and browsed the internet using the modem and went to
and checked port 22 and got an error that it is blocked. The only common port open was the remote desktop 3389. Will this affect using port 22.

Also once I setup port forwarding what is a good test to use to see if I can get to the pix from the outside.
