One of my users has Access 97 and is trying to export a table to Excel on a network drive that he has update access to (he can create the file manually). Access gives an error message "3027: Cannot update object..." when he attempts this. He can export fine to one of his local drives. Searched Knowledge Base but nothing there. Any ideas?

He can export text files to network or local drives without a problem.

Is the drive mapped as a network drive or is just being accessed via its URL? I do this pretty much every day but I always use a mapped network drive (that is it has been assigned a Drive Letter on my PC)

He is exporting using the "Save As/Export" command and select a mapped drive letter. After further testing, it appears to be related to the length of the directory and/or filename. We created directories whose name varies by 1 character and there was a breakpoint where we couldn't export.
