Cannot edit a from in Design View

I get the following message when I try to edit my form. Does anyone have any idea?
Please help.

The object is locked, so any changes you make will be discarded when the form is closed
Click Save As/ Export on the File menu and save the object under a different name.

Is your database being access by multiple users when you're attempting your changes? If it is, chances are that a user has the form you're attempting to work on open, and hence you will not be able to make any changes.
