Hi all,

I have a few "psd" (photoshop)and "jpeg" files that Windows XP will not allow me to move to other directories because XP claims they are "being used by another program". They are NOT. I've checked the file "properties" and find nothing there that would be causing the problem. Can anyone tell me how to make these files moveable and/or renameable again? The psd files I can "save as" another name but I don't want to do that to the jpegs due to the loss of quality issues.

Any and all help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John

I've had this sorta thing happen to me before. I always end up getting it to work too, but I don't really remember how. I know I always first try moving it in MS-DOS, sometimes that works. If not, try just renaming the filename in either DOS or windows to something like 1.jpg or 1.psd, then try moving them.
If neither of those works, then you may have to get down and dirty unless you can figure out which application is using them. One way to do it is to boot into dos and then move them when they are not in use, but then you need to use NTFSDOS or something to allow you to read NTFS formatted partitions from FAT32 or FAT16 partitions (DOS). someone else will probably have a better idea than me anyways.
