Cannot Delete More than 1 Item in Outlook 1

My Exchange 5.5 (SP4) server is not deleting correctly. It will delete items one at a time, but you cannot select more than 1 item at a time and delete. Outlook hangs. Any ideas?
 
Thanks. But it is not just happening to one computer. It is through out the organization. We are running WIN2000 Office Professional, Service Pak 1 and it has been working from the beginning. Any other ideas? I think it is a server issue.
 
We are having almost the same problem. We rebuilt our server made a new Dir and restored our Priv and pub from tape. Now when someone tries to delete messages with attachments they must go into the email once before it lets them delete it.

Is this the same issue you are having?

 
this is because of your antivirus software. If you are running Norton Antivirus for Exchange 2.x change the mode to MAPI mode and you should be fine.
 
Can you open attachments? Anti-virus causes problem in VAPI mode if the value for OpenRetryDelay is too low. Basically this determines how long AV has to scan before it gives up and quarantines the attachment. Can cause other issues. Is this any set of messages? What about dumping deleted items folder? Hangs on that? Dan

Try to raise that and see if it helps if you still want to run VAPI mode. Dan

Yea before the change we couldn't delete whole folders if there were messages in that folder with attachments, Unless you opened each message first. I'll try the other setting after hours. What are the benifits to VAPI and or MAPI mode?
 
I´ve got the same problem like jlmartini. Has anyone solved the problem ?

Is this problem due to the anti-virus? I've recently installed a NAV for Exchange version 2.1 which supports VAPI mode. And, all my users aren't able to delete mails with attachments more than one at a time.

So, I believe regardless of the NAV software that i'm using, i should be able to just modify the registry settings in MS Exchange to increase the time?

I've the same problem.
i've a BDC NT4-sp6a which is also Exchange5.5sp4.
I'm currently using on it Arcserve 6.61, Zetafax7 and Groupshield for Exchange 5.0.
The problem occurs when I installed the Zetafax Exchange connector and Groupshield 5.0.
I could stop the problem, stopping the Groupshield Service and Zetafax connector service.
Otherwise Outlook2000sp1 hangs.

Would you mind to give me any useful idea?

Sorry for the second post in a row...
I tried to change the Scanning method to MAPI from VAPI, and then tried to change the registry key to 1000 and then 2000 (the original value was 500) but the problem still remain.
I stopped Zetafax and nothing changed.
I should stop "Groupshield Message Body Scanner" service to allow people delete mail and move folder in Exchange5.5!!!
This NT service is the source of the problem.


Would you please give me any tips?

Hi,

It turns out that in our case the problem was with
Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Service. Stop this service
and find out if you can delete more than one item, if this is the case then run the Exchange optimizer. This did the
for us.
