I'm trying to delete a mailbox store so that I can uninstall exchange 2003 from a server but i'm getting the followiing error:

One or more users currently use this mailbox store. These users must be moved to a different mailbox store or be mail disabled before deleting this store.

ID no: c1034a7f
Exchange System Manager

I did the steps Microsoft recommended in article 279202 at :

but I could find no mailboxes attached to that store. I made sure and migrated all my users to another exchange server. I don't know why System Manager is still detecting that a user's mailbox is still on the server. Can anyone help?

Did you do method #3? That's always worked for me. What's likely the case is a mailbox specified in an account that hasn't been initialized yet (user hasn't logged on, or the account hasn't received an email). Method #3 always shows those.

After you deleted all mailboxes, did you run the cleanup agent?

Hope This Helps,

Good Luck!

Hm. Usually when I need to delete a mailbox store I just highlight everyone in the store, click Exchange Tasks and delete mailboxes.

After doing this, are there still mailboxes showing up in the store? If so, have you tried moving the existing mailbox to another store?

Hope This Helps,

Good Luck!
