Cannot decode block. Verify the device configuration. Tape positioning by record is disabled

I have this problem after i upgraded from 6.12 to 7.2 and upgraded from windows 2000 to windows 2003 and new Hardware (HBA Controller) the library is the same like before.

The problem comes only by cloning!

Is there a patch or a soloution? Please help :)

Thx Tolot

This must not necessarily be a problem at all. But there is some info missing:
- When exactly does this happen?
- Does the error occur on the source or the destination media?
- Is this at the beginning or in the middle of the cloning process?
- Or is this when the system needs to (re)label a media during the process?

I think it is alwayse by cloning, where a relabilng is necessary. I am today by the customer. i will do some tests an then post it here. In hope for help ;)

Sorry for bad englis. I hope everybody understand what i mean :)

Thx Tolot

The problem is:

the cloning failed, because read error (CRC) from the tape, wich have the save sets!

Hmm, Networker write on the tape an cannot read?? HELP :)

Thx Tolot

If it can not read the data from one save set, i am pretty sure that there is a problem with the media. In this case you have a problem with this save set. This unfortunately happens. Try to read from another device, if possible.

If it can not read this tape at all (if it can not even read the label), then there is a more serious problem which can be anything hard- or software-related. This needs some deeper investigations. TAPEEXER.EXE may help in this case.

Since, i have updated all Firmware (HBA and Tape)and Drivers, the backup, restore and cloning jobs all succsefull.
Thx for Help.
