System Specs:
Netware 6.0 SP3
Arcserver 9.01
Disaster Recovery Option 9.01

Hello All,

I reciently installed the Disaster Recovery Option from the 9.01 update on our Netware 6 server. According to CA the 9.01 update includes support for Netware 6.0 and 6.5. The problem is when I try to create disks from the Arcserve manager it tells me "The feature you have selected is not supported by the currant host platform". I have checked to be sure that the DR option NLMs are 9.01 and they are so it should be supported. One thing that may have to do with it is we did originally install the DR Option from the 9.0 disk which did not support NW 6.0. We then installed the it from the 9.01 update over that. Should I have removed the DR Option from 9.0 before I installed the new one? If so, how would I remove it without hurting anything else? I could try removing it and then reinstalling again from the 9.01 update.

I have also tried to make the disks using dprepare.nlm at the server console. That launches ok, but then bombs out with errors while making the first disk. The errors all say "Unable to save file xxxxx.xxx" (x's here stand for several different files not actual x's).
I have been working with someone from CA by email for about a month but he seems to have no clue. The last week and a half of emails have consisted of "Send me such and such file" and "Now send me such and such file". He has never offered any theories or answered any of the questions I have asked him.

If anyone has any experience with this please give me your ideas or let me know how it has worked on your system.

Thanks for any help,

DeeJay

I do not know if you have received resolution from CA or not or just gave up on the problem, but if you have not and still need to get CA involved I strongly suggest you contact your account representative and threaten to switch to Legato or Backup Exec and maybe they will listen...we did and they gave us their top Novell Engineer to work with. Give it a try.

Update,

Well we were able to figure out one half of the problem. We needed to uninstall the manager and then reinstall making sure to check the Cross Platform option on the install. Doing that added a "Create Boot Disk Kit" to our Brightstore application group and allowed us to start the process from the workstation rather than the server. Still seems strange though that "Create Boot Disk Kit" wizard will not work from within the manager. You have to launch it from the program group.

But now we are left with the other half of the problem. Although we can run the process of creating boot disks, it always fails with errors. Here is what the droption.log says:
Disaster Recovery Option successfully loaded

Sounds like a problem accesing the DOS partition? Any Ideas?

Thanks,
