How can I copy files with the suffix .X64 from a CD ROM?
When this is tried, either the copying process stops before completion or the copied file suddenly disappears a few seconds later.
I suspect this is part of a copy protection scheme. Is there any way round it?
System is XP Pro SP2

Strange... it works on my system...

albeit I have a 32bit version of XP PRO SP2 installed...

there may be a difference on 64bit versions of XP PRO...

sorry if this doesn't help you any...

but you may try using Xplorer2lite (

Thanks Badbigben, I hve only the normal OS system installed which I presume is the 32-bit version like yours. I have tried this on two different computers with same result.
There are 3 files in question, each 5Mb.
IOFILE.X64
MOV_IO.X64
SOUND.X64
The last one I can copy.
I may look into the link you sent but in the meantime maybe someone else has an idea.

How exactly are you trying to copy them?

ROGER - G0AOZ.

I'm copying these files by exploring the disk and doing a copy/paste operation to a folder on the desktop. I have also tried to copy the entire disk with Nero and these files are causing the image file making process to abort. The litereature that came with the disc says one can copy the disk for back up purposes so I don't feel I am trying to do anything illegal!
