cannot connect to Nortel PBX using Hyperterm XP OS

Changing over to XP from win 98. I using the hyper terminal in win 98 fine to access nortel switch but unable to use XP Hyper term. Using VT 100 I can see the text when switch list erros or switch status,and I can type on the screen but it will not allow me to type password.( it acually shows the password when typed). any suggestion or anyone else have this problem. I tryed to look on the web for procomm or some kind of free ware any suggestions Thanks.

xon/xoff should do it
also bouble check if you are needing a null modem adapter on this tty port and that the tty port has USER for MTC

how can you connect directly from a switchbox that as the 2 cpus on them??
