IS-IT--Management
We are in a domain environment.
My user needs a print driver (HP 2300) for a LAN printer but does not have that driver already installed.
That driver is available through our Active Directory printers list however.
So I logged in with a domain user account to install the desired printer (it's listed in a different office) then logged in as a local admin to setup IP-based printing for the LAN printer in my user's remote office.
I added a TCP/IP port and chose an existing printer already installed with XP - an HP laserjet III.
Next opened that printer's property sheet and on the Advanced tab changed the driver from HP LJ III to HP 2300. The dialog box stops responding at that point; it hangs, and never recovers without either stopping/starting the spooler service or restarting.
There are no disk errors in the system event log and chkdsk /f was run prior to changing (ok, attempting to change) the print driver.
I need help here!
