HD stopped working over the weekend, ie,
msg "Boot disk is not valid" and could not read in DOS. Fdisk and formatted, installed Windows 98.
Was getting msg about VFAT init failed and registry inop, so
followed advice in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 178947:
Err Msg: Registry File Was Not Found. Registry Services May
be inoperative...
Advises tomodify the msdos.sys file on the floppy.
Now when it boots, I get the message
"EZBIOS startup continues..."
but it just hangs. But when I insert the boot disk, with the modified msdos.sys, it goes to the screen where it asks if I want CD ROM support or not, just like it was going to boot into DOS mode, but then boots directly into Windows 98, and HD is accessible and Windows works fine.
How can I get the system to boot directly from the HD without the floppy?
Thanks.
