I am running XP Pro with SP2 installed and the system works normally when you do a normal boot. When I try to boot to safe mode, I get a BSOD with the error :

IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

The technical specs provided at the bottom of the blue screen are : 0X0000000A (OXF8A52354 0X00000001 0X804E34DD)

Anyone have any ideas on why I cannot boot in safe mode but can boot in the normal mode?

Thanks in advance

call microsoft..they are providing support of this type free

Changes to the start options on the F8 screen were made in SP2 this may be causing you a problem. Alternatively some program, service or driver that your particular installation requires is unable to load in Safe Mode. Like you imply this is strange as it is usually the other way around.

If you feel like experimenting -

The following registry key lists the driver and service groups enabled in safe mode:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal

Thanks for the feed back. I called MS and they worked with me for close to 2 hours and the bottom line was when I uninstalled INCD which is a part of the Ahead Nero Software package, my system would then boot into safe mode without problems.

I am now getting the most recent updates of the Nero software and am going to install them, then see what happens.

I just installed all the latest versions of Ahead Nero software and my problem is now solved.
