server 2003.. xp pro sp2..

attached PC to domain fine.. under groups on the local PC the domain admins are not listed in there. when trying to add anyone from the domain into the local admin group the domain does not even show up locations..

any help would be appreciated

I would probably start with checking the DNS settings. Make sure the that the workstation is pointing to the correct Active Directory DNS server. Although the fact that you were able to join the domain makes me think it is already configured correctly. Check with that anyway.

thanks you were right..it was a dns issue. I didn't even think of that since I was able to attach to the domain. that's what happens when you pick up after someone else's mess.

thanks

Hey, we've all been there. At least you are the one to get it resolved.

Just curious, what ended up being the problem? I am just snoopin around for dns issues that I may run into in the near future here, kind of in the same boat.

Cstorms,

the problem was when 2003 SBS was installed, I guess it could not "find" or "Locate" a valid DNS server. so, it ended up putting 127.0.0.1 as the default DNS server. and also there router was not pointing to the correct DNS server which should have been the 2003 SBS. I went in there and was told everything was setup and my job was just to add more servers to there domain. well after looking around some more I ended up reconfiguring there entire network, router included. but you pointed me in the right direction with DNS. I would have got there sooner or later but you saved me time.

Thanks
