All of a sudden, my system is doing this. Do not know how to remedy. The only access I have to system is through tty01, through root. Trying to access through telnet, tty1p, etc, gives me this error. Other terminals are the same including dial up modem acces through tty1a.

Clarification:

When trying to log in, I get this error message:

"Cannot access terminal control database entry"

Any clue as to how to remedy? Can only log is as root on tty01.

Richard M.

man ttyupd

Hope This Helps, PH.

Got this message when running ttyupd:

ale: /etc: File Control Database inconsistency

ale: Either the script path /tcb/lib/auth_scripts/termupd or the File Control Database itself may be compromised - Run Integrity (ADM)

From SCO Technical Article 104588, please read it in it's entirety before implementing anything.

Take the following steps (this MAY be done in multiuser mode):

cd /etc/auth/system

mv ttys /tmp/ttys.bad
(if you just copy it, you need to manually remove ttys)

touch /etc/auth/system/ttys

chown auth:auth /etc/auth/system/ttys

/tcb/bin/ttyupd

/tcb/bin/ale /etc/auth/system/ttys pttyupd

pttyupd is a shell script located in /tcb/lib/auth_scripts. It must be run with the above syntax because pttyupd will fail to run if called directly.
