Hi, I have a mailbox which cannot be accessed despite the fact the PC can log onto the NT domain. Password Authentication is selected but Outlook returns an error 'You do not have permission to logon'. We are using Exchange 5.5 sp4 with Outlook'98. Also tried with OWA but it says 'OWA was unable to get your mailbox'.
Nothing shows in the Event Viewer on the Exchange server and even creating a profile for the mailbox on my PC still does not allow access.
Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks, Mike

In Exchange administrator, open up the recipents area for your exchange server, open the properties of the user that your having problems with, and on the general tab, ensure that the primary NT account is set for that user. You may want to try and add the user again.

Try rebuilding the user profile in Winnt on the client machine. Do this if you are unable to open this mailbox from ANY client machine.

Hi, Thanks for your replies. I added the Exchange service acount to the mailbox with user priv and I was able to access the mailbox with a new profile and authentication set to none. User is now able to access his mailbox. Can only assume the nt profile had stuffed his mailbox permissions. Why adding the service account has resolved this still puzzles me.

Again thanks for the pointers.

Mike

I have the same problem with just one mailbox, only I can't even get in under my NT account, which has NT administrative rights and Exchange service account admin rights. I can create a profile OK in Outlook 2000, ie it recognises the mailbox name. Sending an email to this mailbox produces an undeliverable message. I have deleted and recreated the mailbox and the NT account, to no avail. I've tried putting myself in with user permissions, again with no joy.

Any further suggestions from anyone?

Regards,
Phil.
