Hi,

The search is a parameter query. Typical set-up, when the user hits the command button for the search they are asked to enter a value, they then can hit OK to run the query. But if they hit Cancel the database closes.

Is there a way to just take the user back to the form if they hit cancel?

When the user clicks the command button, do you bring up a new form to get the parameter value, or is the pasrameter value request coming from the query that has already started. It “looks as if” this is probably what is happening. Your command button runs the query. If that is the case your db is not going to close after a query completes unless you tell it to. As I think you can see, a bit more information would be very helpful. Robert Berman

The command button runs the query, the person is asked for a value after hitting the command button. On the dialog box that opens asking for the value, there is a field they can type the value into and an OK button to finish running the query or a cancel button.

If the user hits the cancel button the database closes. All this is run by the database system. I just need a way to get the user back to to form the command button is on if they hit the cancel button.

You have a database problem. I set up a parameter query using both A97and A2K2. when the parameter box popped, I hit cancel. The query does not run but that is all that happens. The database does not close with either version.

You might have a corrupted object in your database. The behavior you are getting is not the norm.

Thanks, that gives me a good clue to work with.
