Hi All,

I'm trying to find out if anyone knows how (or if it's even possible to) pull a dange range from the report viewer itself. We use a program called c.Support for our ticketing system and it has a built-in Crystal Reports report viewer (HTML-based). I'm trying to build a report that can count tickets based on a date range for each rep.

I need to either find out how to allow the user to input a date range or else find a way to pull the date range that the user can select in the viwer. Any ideas?

An example of what I want to do with it is:

The rep has X number of tickets. A number of the toal (X) tickets were created during the date range. B number of the total (X) ticekts were created before the date range. C number of the total (X) tickets were created after the date range.

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for any assistance you can offer!

Depends on how the custom code uses date ranges, it can be done in different ways. And are you certain that they aren't using the Crystal HTML viewer?

If you're building a report, how do you add in parameters such as date ranges, or does the app automatically detect parameters and build out the front end?

If the latter, than it will have filtered out anything that isn't in the date range automatically, you'll probably need to write the report without using date ranges.

Anyway, I'd contact your vendor and post specifics.

Hi Synapsevampire, thanks for your reply!

It does say it's power by Crystal in the upper right corner of the viewer, so it may be the Crystal HTML viewer. Date ranges are selected using the front end menu options at the top.

I've contacted the software developers, however they referred me to use the templates which came with the software. Those templates do not provide the examples I'm looking for unfortunately.

I didn't ask how date ranges are selected, I asked how the applciation knows that there are date ranges in the report, does it automatically add in parameters?

I would guess that the latter is the case, adn so you don't want to add a date range parameter as date ranges would filter out the data, and you want all of the data, including a specific range.

It's too difficult to tell how the application interacts with Crystal, and you don't have the information required, so I guess you can hack at it or explain to the developers your intent and follow their instructions.

Thanks for your attempts. Unfortunately, I don't have all of the information I need- or else I'm too much of a novice to completely understand your questions. The admin guide for the application has extremely little information on the reporting section, and the support team I am able to speak with at the software development company defaults me to a small set of templates provided with the software. These templates are supposed to have everything you'd need to create a report, and for the most part they do- but I've reached their limits.

My only other option at this point is to continue to make guesses. Thanks again!
