Is there a way to generate a test alarm on a Nortel? We use a monitoring tool called Relia-Tel and when as we add new systems to the monitoring tool I am looking for a way to make sure the Nortel is sending alarms through the SEB and out to the Relia-Tel. I know I can pull the power on the SEB and then plug it back in to send an alarm but was looking for a way to generate a test alarm remotely.

Sometimes I'll stat a few analog cards and when I find a card with all idle ports, I'll disable and re-enable the card. That will trigger an XMI001 and XMI002 error. Universal Trunk cards will do that too.

LD 117
==>TEST ALARM xxxx yyyy

xxx= BSD, PWR or whatever
yyy= digits of the alarm message you want to test
example:
==>TEST ALARM BSD 090

Unfortunately if you are dialed into the SEB and to the Test Alarm Command then it's just going to generate the alarm on your TTY screen and not log anything into the SEB.
