Can you copy a local user profile from one machine to another?

I have a feeling that the answer is no, but I thought I'd ask. We are running win2K workstations on a NT network. We will be migrating soon, but first I have a bunch of new workstations to deploy. We don't use roaming profiles, for a bunch of reasons, but we will be using them after the migration.

Anyway, since there is registry entries, I wasn't sure if there was a way you could just copy a local profile from one machine to another. Anybody got any ideas?

Yes you can - use the copyto feature in 2k system properties, user profiles tab (on the machine where profile is now - browse network to location on other machine - obviously best if you've already set up and logged on with user name - then it will just overwrite & be ready next time. Also of course, both machines will need to be logged on as NOT the user being copied from or to).

Finally - any software shortcuts will obviously only work on new machine if same software is installed in same location there.
