i'm writing a c implementation of RSA that needs to deal with large int values can i extend the number of bits assigned for int type to handle these large numbers?

No you cannot change the number of bits assigned to a default data type. Int can be 16/32 bits depending on the underlying platform. You will have to keep an array of integers and manipulate it.

Or find a library that deals with large integers for you.

If you're working on a UNIX box, most implementations have multiple precision integer library (mp). Do a man on "mp" and it should show you everything you need to know.

Thnxs for the help peoples
