Using IIS on Windows 2000 machine.
My website on my local machine just stopped working. The index.htm files show up, but the index.asp files show this error:
'The page cannot be displayed, HTTP 500 - Internal server error Internet Explorer'
I checked IIS and it is running.
I am not sure what else to check.
Any suggestions?

Hi Castor66,
I restarted IIS.
Where do I check the ASP service and how?
Thanks

I turned off 'Show friendly HTTP error messages' and I get the following error 'Server Application Error'.
Do you know what the permission should be set at for the directory?

I managed to get it working through kind of a hack process.
On the default website properties of IIS, I went to the 'Home Directory' tab. I changed the Application Protection to 'Low (IIS Process)' and it worked.

I will start a new thread and post a question about this as I don't think this is the best solution. Must have something to do with the Security of IUSR or IWAM.

Thanks for the advice! I got this problem "out of the blue" one day and couldn't figure out what was the actual problem. Now I've solved it thanks to you. It has to be related to some Windows Update feature since I haven't done any manual changes to my local IIS installation. Microsoft must have identified some security issue and automatically set the Application Protection to another level than it was originally set to. // Jon

Hi, open com+ console and change the iis out of process component identity from system to interactive user.

If you want more detail please ask here and i'll be pleased to asnwer you.

Hope this helps. Please let know if this resolve your issue

Jeff

I had that problem and also did what you did but i think its bad to leave it running in low process. I also spoke to MS they didnt have a solution for me did anyone find one?

Thank you.

Hi GDX,
I haven't had time to try JFBouchard's example.
I will try over weekend and let you know.
