I'm new at this, so I probalby just need to check a check box, but here goes. Brightstor 11.1 on Win 2003 svr, Windows agent and SQL agent on another Win 2003 svr. Running one job to backup the normal Windows stuff on both servers and a second job for the SQL instance. All backups work fine, except I can only get a full SQL backup. Actually, when creating the job, it allows me to select Differential backup, but it doesn't save that selection. Instead, it reverts back to a full backup. Same thing with Transaction log backup. It lets me select it, but reverts back to full when saved. I've tried both Windows authentication and as sa, but same result. So, I have a weeks worth of full backups and no differential or transaction backups. Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks.

When setting up the job have the tree showing the SQL server expanded and then try it.

You can verify if it took the seting by checking the Job Details in the Job Queue.

Thanks for the reply. That's the way I'm doing it, I think. I expand the tree, right click the db, go into Agent Optons, and select Database - Differential. The job details doesn't show what the method is used until after the backup. Then, the job log shows it as a full.

However, I just got through running an experiment: If I backup a single database, either immediately or within a few minutes, the differential backup works fine. So, I rescheduled it to run tomorrow and will check it then to see if it ran ok. I have not tried it like this using two or more databases, yet. Is there a problem with backing up more that one database at a time?
