My company use Veritas Backup Exec 9.1 and oracle remote agent. I tried to backup database oracle agent. I found that I could backup successful. but when I tried to restore, I could not restore it. It return error a000fe29: Authentication failed on connection to the server. On the job log and item about Error it show me that

Restore - acle_pchit/ICTTS
Access is denied to remote agent

Why oracle database agent is "acle_pchit/ICTTS". It should be "oracle_pchit/ICTTS"?

and this is some error from SGMON.log

ANY ADVICE?

Firstsun

Try this, not sure if it will work, but does work for files, then the servername is being truncated in the restore job for some reason.

Select what you want to restore, then on the Redirect tab, enter to re-direct and put in just the servername.

See if this works for you.

Did this fix the problem? Or is there another fix? I am having the same problem not being able to restore the oracle database. I have used the system account and created an account called backup within oracle according to veritas' documentation and given it the required rights but still can not restore.

justin2000, thanks for the info. That fixed our problem. I can restore the oracle database now. I had called Veritas support and got no where. Have had this problem for over a month now. They told me that I didnt have to use the re-direct option. I will make them aware of how to get Oracle to restore. Thanks again.

I am able to restore the database files when I use file redirection but it renames the database files with the path name included in the name. It does not overwrite the database even though overwrite files is checked. Is there not a way to get the database to restore without using file redirection? That is the only way I can get it to restore.

Yes there's a way out.
1. Have Oracle create it's own backups. Archive these with BE.
2. Unarchive with BE. Have Oracle restore it's own backups.

I've been seriously burned by the MSSQL agent for BE, and no longer trust any 3rd party agent on my databases.
