Hi Every one

I have got problem when I try to ping my self..I received this message : "Request timed out".

my operating system is windows 2000 server. The ip address that I used was 193.16.16.3 and I tried other.

I have got no problem with loopback (127.0.0.1). only my problm is localhost.....By the way I 've got no ZoneAlarm or Norton Internet Security.

Thanks for any comment or help

Hey Zillah,

I guess your W2K-server is trying to ping to that foreign IP.
Have you tried to set your local IP to one from the private range (ie 192.168.1.1) and ping on that one?

Hi SteelBurner

I relized by tring that if there is no cable plug in your NIC crad and you try to ping localhost then you receive this message "destination Host Unreachable" that if you have w2k, or w2k server and winME......but with windows 98 there is no problem.
or some time the message will be "Request timed out"

Thanks
