From my laptop I am able to ping my external SMTP server, so it is replying to echo request. From system status it is not. I have my IP route built in IPO as

IP Address 0.0.0.0 (IP Address of the IPO 192.168.1.250 LAN 1 interface)
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.3 (my router)
Destination LAN 1
Metric 0
Proxy not checked.

In system status it shows the route built but it says metric 1 instead of 0. I have tried several routes and not able to get out. I have power cycled the system but no luck. I can ping my router from System Status but nothing beyond that.

Any ideas on what I can try? They are not filtering MAC address on the router either.

Well put it back like that and find what else is wrong, the reason it didn't work/isn't working is not just your IP route, but you can fix that part at least by making it 0.0.0.0 :)

It's not something silly like you are actually using LAN2/WAN is it? Been there :)

Nope. Not using LAN 2, it is still at the default address 43.1

Then look carefully at your router, if everything is as you say it isn't allowing traffic to pass from the system, you need to fond out why.
But sometimes it's as silly as a duplicate IP, try unplugging the system briefly and do a ping to it's address, seen that a few times also, failing that it's your router :)

Are you Pinging the URL for the SMTP (smtp.xxx.com) or its IP Address.

If URL, then make sure that your DNS is set in the KSU.

If all mentioned above checks out save yourself further work and wasted time, wireshark the system output showing ping packets destined for the router and then leave it in the hands of the IT man...your work here is done :)

Just the IP address. They are replacing their router in a few days. I'll wait for them to do that, then re-test.

Thanks.

You may have missed my last post, try it, it's nice to vindicate yourself :)
