Hello,

i have a volume license disk which i use to install my 2003 servers. If i now want to update with SP1, the installation refuses due to a license problem. How can this be prossible?

Post your actual error please.

I hope you find this post helpful.

605,

Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, like Service Packs 1 and 2 for Windows XP, checks the validity of your Product ID key before installing.

If there is a question about whether your Windows Server 2003 licence is valid, you may be unable to install Service Pack 1.

In any case, the actual text of the error would be most helpful.

The error reads like this:

Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 cannot install.

The product key used to install Microsft Windows may not be valid. For more information ....

--------------

Any idea why this happens with a valid Product Key?

You might want to go to the how to tell site to verify it is in fact legit. From what software house did you purchase the licenses? I know of one customer who purchased from Buy.com and got ripped off. They provided proof to MS and they were going after Buy.com.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
