Hello,
I have a v480 with a fresh installation of OS8, and it is set up the interface of ce1 as a local host. Next I want to set up the hme0 to connect to LAN, but strangely that it won't take this interface but I am able to config other interface such as qfe0, qfe1, ce0. I don't know what's wrong or what's did I miss or else that not allow me to config this interface.

The steps that I do, and message I get:
$ ifconfig hme0 <IP address>
Ifconfig: plumb: hme0: Bad file number

but if I do:
$ ifconfig qfe0 <IP address>
$
and I can see qfe0 interface with ifconfig -a, and I am able to continue config it.

Could any one help please?

Thanks a lot Bsek
I am saved! It happens for me almost the same like the author of the article! I will try out.
Thanks again.
