I am working on a Windows XP machine that we found to have the Sasser virus and Gaobot Virus. The problem is we can not run Norton's Live Update and we can not access Norton's main website I was able to download the latest virus definitions from and successfully removed both viruses. But I still can not access or All other websites pull up without any problems at all. I have installed Ad Aware and Spy Bot and both found many things that I removed. Does anyone have any idea where this problem could be originating from. I followed Norton's tips and looked in the "hosts" file but that was not the problem. Please help.

Thank you!

My guess would be that ether the virus or the spyware is still in the registry wich canot be deleated while the file is in use. the best thing to do is go into safe mode and run the scan then as well as the adaware, if adaware finds somthing and tells you to restart your computer and it will deleat it on the next rebot you probobly are going to have to deleat it in DOS, or if you have a program called winternals 2002 wich will load a Disk operating system (different than dos) and than you can delet the file or files that way with out having them run before you can deleat them. now when you are in thes programs you are going to have to manuly deleat the file so that means you will have to know the name of the file. hope this helps

Sorry for my bad spelling, I was in a rush when I wrote that, and I cant find the "edit" button.....

Sorry, I hope it made sence. :~/

Oh another thing I almost forgot, I had a computer that had the same problem as yours and I couldent figure it out, I dont know if it was a virus or what but I couldent fix it. I had to resort to the dreaded FORMAT C: command in good old DOS. Oh btw the computer that I was working on was a Japaneese Laptop so i figured it was a conflict with the antivirus and the language pack in the registry..... But thats not your problem so sry for rambling :). hope I could be of some help.
