Hi all,

I have tried to search for this and can't see where it has been posted in the past (bad search terms might be the cause), so I will ask:

Is it possible for me to determine from Outlook if anyone other than myself is receiving my email (as in forwarded to them and me)? This "interception" could be happening at the local email server level or external level.

Thanks,

Wyz

Not really.
If a server (Exchange or other) has it set to send a copy of your mail to someone, you will never know.

However, since the one doing this (if that is the case) is potentially braking privacy laws (unless you signed that you are aware that such monitoring can be done), you can be right to wonder.

IF no such policy is in place, then how to make sure they are not monitoring you?
Walk up to the IT department or the IT guy and DEMAND to see your settings while you are there. Make sure you go when they are free for a moment, because if they tell you to come back at a later time it could be gone.

Hi marc,

You do get around, don't ya?

I kind of thought that was the case, but I couldn't find any real documentation about it. I was asked that question as the Exchange Admin and I didn't know for sure.

BTW, we do have a policy and signoff procedure in place - I demanded that the policy be created - so my butt was covered.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate you (as much as I do in the Exchange 2000 forum).

DOH !
Wyz ! long time we crossed on posts, I didn't realise, lol.

So, in your case, at least the Exchange Admin is safe.

There are a couple of other possiblities. I guess you are talking about work, right?

There are any number of programs out there providing employers with snapshots of your computer activity. A bill requiring employers to inform their employees of this activity was just vetoed in CA, if I remember correctly, so assume it's happening.

Your admin can access your mail. Your employers can access your mail. There's no way you can see if they are doing it, and in California, at least, I believe you don't have a right to know. (see above).

Then there's spyware. From keystroke loggers (I had one hit me through a firewall last week) to gogknowswhat.
