Is it possible to use a Powerpoint viewer of some sort from within vb6 and start and stop it by external commands from a LAN?
That way I dont need to have a full version of powerpoint installed.
(much like you do using Windows Media Player or Shockwave)
I see it is in the references so I would say yes about the VB part. I can't spek to the LAN part of the question. I got some hits on Google with "visual basic powerpoint LAN
Because you have Powerpoint installed. Ted wants to be able to view presentations without Powerpoint ...
Ted, the old Powerpoint viewer from Office 97 (that was packaged when you selected Pack and Go) used to be automatable (as long as at least one Office-compatible application was installed on the target system). Sadly subsequent versions seem to have removed the automation capability from the viewer.
Thanks,
there is no problem starting and stopping it via LAN using Winsocks but I fear an Office97 version may not play some modern powerpoints.
I thought there may have been some sort of 'free" viewer only like there is for pdf files.
