Hi,
I am developing a system-MIS which is used by our company to manage customer care and all that.I want an Email to b shot at 11.30 PM everyday to the administrator of the company so that he comes to know the job details of every employee. The jobs attended by the employees are stored in the database and all employees are asked to enter the information by 11 PM daily.
i am using CDONTS for sending mail.I can use Persits.MailSender component also.
can this b done automatically?
Thanks
Rakhi

I dont think thats possible... because u cannot activate a page according to any given time...

Known is handfull, Unknown is worldfull

Simply create a scheduled task that calls the ASP page (via IE) at 11:30 every night.

in the contol panel>scheduled tasks

also, jsut my "2 bits" I read this a while ago and I am in complete agreement with the first paragraph from the 4guysfromrolla, in stating
One question I have heard asked frequently is, "How do I schedule the execution of a certain ASP script?" Scheduling an ASP script really doesn't make sense, if you stop and think about it. If you need to schedule an ASP event, chances are the script does some type of maintenance. Perhaps it cleans up a database table, or sends out a status email, or performs some other type of maintenance chore.

this articel does go on to point out other options but in this communications with executibles through WHS.

just wanted to add that I do not support doing scheduled tasks with ASP. It is NOT what the platform was intended to do.

hi onpnt,
the global.asa did strike me but i had only one problem, the code will be executed for each and every new session, this could take server time wont it?

Known is handfull, Unknown is worldfull

ahh!! I like how your thinking vbkris :)

however in this case or something other then this in the global a condition could be set to leave your resource use to a minimum, but it will be a resource consumer. The global I've found is the one thing that you should leave to a minimum as it will or can become a issue with the load time of the default. Of course that is the last page you want to be sitting there hanging. My personal surfing sense is if the page oesn't load in a matter of a second I back out. very impatient! I had this problem just a while ago before my site was reworked again where the global was killing load time and I had many people contact me in concern of this. Whnen I changed the workflow away from the global things were back to normal.
