This is a newbie question.

I am developing a Visual Foxpro Database (VFP) program. I am trying to use MSDE and a SQL database instead of the native VFP database files.
I have installed MSDE on two machines with XP HOME. I can access and create files on each machine localy, with MSDE. I have folders shared. I can access folders on either machine from either machine. Now I need to find out how to access MSDE/SQL on one machine from another.
Can it be done with XP HOME and if so, what's the technique?

It can be done. MSDE uses a port to communicate with other machines. By default, this port is 1433. With XP (especially service pack 2), the firewall is on be default.

To make this work, you will need to re-configure the firewall to allow the port the sql server uses.
