Hi All
Can i make CD a key. I want to make the CD a permamnent key where a program can't start without the CD. Can i make such Cd which can't be copy to any forum.

This is exactly what all software manufacturers would want. I think it is feasible if you are sneaky about it. For Instance, if you put a .Dll file, which had a unique identifying number embedded inside of it, on the CD and a copy of that same .Dll file on the hard-drive of the computer at install time, but in a directory so obscure, and a different "modified/created" date than when the game was installed, and with a different name than the one residing on the CD, then you would have a good chance of keeping that information away from the end user. Simply check the two id numbers to see if they match, if not? then the program is terminated. Note: This will not deter the most determined end user, this will only make it really hard for them to figure out how you are going about this.

hope this helps...

Hi zalmey:

This was discussed before. Please have a look at thread222-538092 for a long discussion on "uncopiable CDs".
