Hallo,

I am wanting to host several virtual web servers on a single physical server, but I do not have access to any physical clients.
I want to be able to log on to any of my virtual servers from the physical server.

Is this possible? If so, what configuration/products do I need?

I'm not sure ESXi can do this.

TIA,

Frink

No you need a client to manage the host. You won't be able to install any VM's without one.

If they aren't production servers you can always install win 2k3 or 2k8 on the server and use vmware workstation or server instead. That way you only need one bit of tin.

forgot to say - or use Ubuntu with VM server 2.0 which is completely free.

The physical console of the Host computer that ESXi runs on only allows minimal configuration and doesn't provide access to the guests. You connect to the ESXi client via another computer to get console access to your guest vms.
