Can I insert pages in Word 2003 without using header/footer?

I have to create a template and the page number needs to show up in a paragraph instead of in the header. Does anyone know how to do this?

You ask for two things that are quite different.

Subject line:
Can you insert pages without using a header/footer? Yes you can.

What you wrote:
To insert the page number (anywhere), use Insert > Field > Page.
