Hi

I have a program that when it completes the process of creating an animation opens and runs it in Windows Media Player, at least it did until I got my new computer with Windows 7.

When I completes the writing process which it does successfully I get a message to the effect that it can not find amovie.ocx.

I have found and downloaded the file, but can I place it into Windows 7 and make it active so that the movie will start?

I can run the movie files by going to the folder that they are saved in and starting them from there.

Hi Lemon13

I'll give it a try.

Ok I did and I got almost same message,

"There was a problem starting amovie.ocx"

"amovie.ocx is not a valic Win32 application."

I guess I'll give up on this until I update to a newer version of the software.

In a command prompt after placing the OCX file in system32 run
regsvr32 amovie.ocx

Hi tlcscousin

When I did this I got a message saying that the amovie.ocx file is not compatible with this version of Windows.

I said to look for a version compatible with (x86) 32bit or 64bit.

I'll look and see if I can find something that will work.

Thanks for the help.

you may be missing the correct codecs, if the above does not work, then I would suggest you download the following codec pack and install it...

K-Lite Codec Pack 5.4.4 Full, Standard and Basic

Hi Ben

I'll check that out.

Hi

Just came back to say that installing the Codec pack didn't help.

I'll give up on this, at least I can run them from Windows Explorer after they are done.

My guess is that someday when I update to newer software it will take care of itself.

Hi

I solved the problem, or some one else did actually.

A poster on the Poser forum placed it in the Windows/System folder instead of the System 32 folder.

That did the trick.

It used to start the Animation in Windows Media Player.

Now it starts the animation in a player of it's own but it does what I need.

It gives me a quick way to check my animations over and over until I get it right without having to navigate to the file every time to open it.
