Can I host a website with the same name as my domain?

Hi, I've got IIS configured to host multiple websites using host headers. Our LAN domain is... let's say MYCOMP.com, I want to bring in-house.

Is this technically possible?

Here are my errors.

I type and everything works.

I type and I get an error HTTP 403 (forbidden).

Everything seems to be OK, I copied all the security settings in IIS from the other functional websites.

This is leading me down the road of DNS or some kind of conflict with my naming conventions of the website being the same as our internal domain.

Any ideas?

I just solved this issue in my site.
The problem is - IE does not recognize your fqdn as an Intranet. To workaround : in IE Security Zones write your in local intranet zone.
Everything will be ok.

It would seem to me that this is not a DNS error, but rather a default document error.
Right click on the site in IIS, click properties. Click on the Documents tab, and make sure index.htm has been added to the list.
IIS looks for default.asp and default.htm by default, if neither of these documents exist in the web site, and no other documents have been configured as default documents, you will get an error.

good luck.
