I set up a toolbar for Workgroup and somewhere along the line the "refresh" option disappears from the right click menu. I think installing other software, possibly NSW or Office 2000 removes it from the registry but I don't know where to look. I know it was there. Any thought on how to get it back? Thanks in advance.

are you "sure" Refresh was ever an available option there?

explain the toolbar setup and how you did it, and where it's located please

Positive, but it was early on, before I added all the other progs. I usually do Windows 98SE, then NSW2003, then Office 2000. After that small stuff like Paint shop etc. I'm not sure when it goes away but I think I'll start a new system and keep a record.

As for the setup of the tool bar it's just a basic. Right click the task bar add new toolbar. First I make one for My Computer, move it to the left of the screen and then add the new toolbar for my workgroup to that one. Then auto hide and small icons. Of coarse this is done before I start adding everything or I wouldn't have seen it in the first place. I've tried removing and putting them back but still nothing for refresh.

It's not that I can't live without it but it sure was handy not having to open the folder after one of the other computers was turned off.
Hope this helps.

Well, I did a clean install and it's there. Now I have to start loading the progs.

ahhh....
I can guess, but that wouldn't do much good...alright, I'll try 1 guess - I suspect it may have to do with the DLLs that IE6 or whatever Install either updates or overwrites or uses like these;
Shdocvw.dll Mshtml.dll Comctl32.dll Shlwapi.dll Shell32.dll
listed here with more;

usually running the IE Repair tool can help this sometimes...
Start Run MSinfo32 >> Tools menu >> IE Repair Tool - choose Repair, not Restore.
This will usually re-register the IE Dlls - which as you know is integrated completely into the OS and especially Networking aspects.

that's all I got for now - wish I could help more, but you're on the right track, to hunt it down by checking after each install. A tool like this
can help a ton with tracking Registry changes, yet can be a bit daunting a task.

Also-
Try the F5 key to see what happens
Also see;
and make the change - Reboot to see any effect.
If you've never edited the REG, although this is a simple Edit - you may want to Registry (File menu) >> Export the reg file BEFORE making the changes, this will create a Copy of the Orig for you to restore if necessary.

Well, I'm stumped. Perhaps it's the order of install®. I went through the most of it and I still have the refresh.
Win 98SE© then the toolbar
IE5.5 (I need for NSW)
NSW2003®©
Video drivers
MS Office 2000®
Acrobat4.0®
Sygate 5.5®
WinZip 7.0®
I even put in DirectX 8.1 thinking that would do it.
It could be Paint shop®, WinAmp®. IrfanView® or some other program that should get the ® or © after them (sorry if I missed one) but I give up. It's not doing what I want so I'll take it to the great recycle center in the sky (I'll format the drive first though). It's like a car, take it to a mechanic and it runs fine.

Anybody have a complete list of commands for Win 98 SE that can be typed in at the Start/Run window? Thanks.
