Hello all,

I have a question about Active Directory, Distribution Groups, and OUs....actually, just tieing them all together.

Here is my problem:

In our organization, we have a couple of OUs. Each time I create a new person, I have to manually add them to various distribution groups. For instance, I create jsmith, I need to manually add him to the allstaff distribution list, and then to the IT distribution list.

Here is my question:

Is there anyway I can associate a distribution list with an OU, so when I add a person to the OU, they automatically get inserted into the lists?

It would make life a lot easier because right now we forget to add them to certain lists.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks ,

Salim

I think if you open AD Users & Computers, browse to the OU you want to add the user in, then instead of going to "Add...New User", simply find a User that has been created already that you want the New User to emulate (groups, privs, etc...), then...Right-click on the existing user and click "Copy"

There are probably other ways as well...

Good luck,

JLong

Jlong,

Good point, thanks for the info! Now if only I can automate it... :)
