Hi

At work i have recently been given an account to logon to the company VPN. I have installed CheckPoint Secure Client with a pre setup policy. I can connect to the VPN with no problems but once connected i can't ping any of the PCs at my office.

Im using a SMC 7008 router at home and connecting to a Nokia IP440 at the office end.

I know that something is definately wrong at my home end because if i connect to anotrher network in my office bulding i can connect to the VPN fine.

Software im using:

Windows XP Pro SP2
CheckPoint VPN-1 Secure Client Build 023
Avast Antivrus

Thanks for the help :)

are you using the same ip range at home as is used in the office?

no completely different

home = 192.168.10.*
office = 10.44.2.*

do your connection show up in the firewall logs?

well i dont have access to the firewall logs but my secure client diagnostics shows lots ot accepted outgoing packets and all the incoming packets are dropped/denied

is the 192.168.42 subnet routed back to you from the firewall?

you do not have any filters blocking traffic inbound on the SMC?

deffinately sounds like a routing issue between the office LAN and your home.

When you say "i connect to anotrher network in my office bulding " is this through the same VPN or a different one?

Do a trace from a machine in the office to an ip on your home network and see if it gets to the firewall. If not you will need to re-ip at home (or get your checkpoint admins to do some funky stuff)

Woohoo

Solved the problem....

I set my lan ip at home to 192.168.2.* and now i can ping and browse whatever on the vpn. I will need to bring this up with my checkpoint admins and ask why the 192.168.10.* range doesnt work.

Thanks again for the help on this.
