I'm working with an 8410D, playing with the buttons and trying to please the user. If the busy-ind button can answer the primary extensions calls, transfer the calls, and even be used to speed dial the primary extension, why use brdg-appr? Am I missing something?
BRDG-APPR allows you to access a call appearance of another extension. As an example, I can have extension 6333 which has 2 call-appr button assignments. If I would like to be able to pick up their line on my extension (6331), I can assign a BRDG-APPR button like this:
brdg-appr btn:1 Ext:6333
This will give me button one from extension 6333. I can do this for any button on the other extension which has a call-appr assigned to it.
BUSY-IND allows you to visually see if another extension is off-hook. As an added benefit to this feature, pressing the button will dial the extension.
The main difference is you can not transfer a call from the bridged appearance to the same number. The originating extension has to hit the lighted line appearance in order to get on that call. The busy indicator will allow you to transfer calls back to the originating number.
