I have a copy of BE v. 9.1 and haven't installed or used it yet. Just curious if it can restore single email and/or is there a necessary client install for that capability.
thanks.

To my knowledge, this depends solely on your E-Mail system. Most E-Mail servers will store messages in a single file (one for each user). This means that your backup software can only backup and restore that file, not pull out pieces of mail from it.

A workaround for this might be to restore the mail file to a location and then import the necessary messages to that user. Of course this depends on your mail system.

As for clients, BE has two kinds of clients. There is a remote client that is used to speed up the backup process and then there is an open file agent, used to backup open files.

To use either clients requires an install pushed from your backup server.

I'm not sure about a lot of mail servers, but i know if you have Microsoft Exchange and the Microsoft Exchange Agent for BE, you can. as long as they are saved out to the server and not on a local PST, you can restore single messages. . .

thanks,
just did some sifting through the documentation and you are correct- if you have the Exchange Agent it will work.
